Man Had Kids in Car During Drug Deal Near Riverview High, Deputies Say

Thomas Francis Kurina of Brandon had his 4-year-old and 7-year-old with him when he was caught in a drug transaction within 1,000 feet of Riverview High School, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

A man was arrested Saturday, March 17, after deputies said they found drugs in his car along with his two kids near Riverview High School, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The newspaper writes:

Around 5:45 p.m., an undercover deputy observed the man making a "hand-to-hand" transaction in a parking lot at 11292 Boyette Road in Riverview, according to an arrest affidavit. The man allowed a search of his vehicle, where the deputy found a small bag of white powder that tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit said. The search also discovered a bottle of Xanax with a torn-off label.

Thomas Francis Kurina, 35, of Brandon, left his 4-year-old and 7-year-old children in his vehicle during the transaction, the Times writes, citing the affidavit. The incident occurred within 1,000 feet of .

Kurina faces two charges of child neglect and two charges of drug possession. He was being held in Hillsborough County jail Monday on $8,000 bail.

Tony Lee Boggs, 23, of Seffner, was also arrested and charged with delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, according to the affidavit. He was released from jail Sunday on $15,000 bail.
