Update: Grinch Steals Christmas Mail

At least three subdivisions were hit overnight.

Update, Dec. 25, 1:47 p.m.: The overnight mail thefts in the Riverview area took place in the Boyette Farms, Rivercrest, Summerfield and Tucker Road neighborhoods. Calls about the thefts began coming in around 7:30 a.m. today, Dec. 25, according to a sheriff’s office media release. Deputies have returned some of the mail that was recovered and will turn over the rest to the postmaster tomorrow for delivery to the proper addresses. In at least one case, mail had been shoved into another neighbor’s box. Some of the mail had been opened, including Christmas cards and letters.

Eight mailboxes along Lincoln Road were also knocked down. It is unclear at this time if the vandalism is related to the thefts, the release said.

Anyone who lives in the area and has home surveillance video that might help in either investigation is asked to call 813-247-8200.
