Drivers Warned to Slow Down on Natures Way

The county has installed two flashing speed signs to alert drivers going over the 30 mph speed limit.

Drivers who are tempted to speed around Natures Way in Bloomingdale East may find themselves facing a costly fine.

In an attempt to curb speedsters along the road, posted for 30 mph, the Bloomingdale Homeowners Association appealed to Hillsborough County, which installed two signals that flash the driver's speed and warns the driver to slow down.

One signal is located near the Bloomingdale Golfers Club. The other is posted on the north side of Natures Way.

In addition, the county relocated some speed signs that were obscured by trees,n painted the 30 mph speed limit directly on the road and installed "Thank You for Slowing Down" signs.

The effectiveness of the measures is yet to be seen, said Bloomingdale Community Resource Master Deputy Curtis Warren at this month's Bloomingdale Community Council meeting.

So, to ensure that motorists keep to the speed limit, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has assigned a traffic deputy to the area, said Warren.

The deputy issued more than 100 citations between January and June, said Warren. Fines can range from $118 to $268, depending on the driver's speed.
