Causeway Boulevard Crash Could Cause Commuting Delays

The Causeway Boulevard crash near the Port of Tampa and 22nd Street was in time for morning traffic for Greater Brandon and Tampa Bay motorists headed through the Ybor City area on Aug. 8. One injury was reported.

The drivers of a Mazda and a tractor-trailer were involved in a crash on the Licata Bridge early this morning, Aug. 8, in time for the rush-hour commute. That bridge is a section of Causeway Boulevard near the Port of Tampa. Eastbound lanes were expected to be closed for several hours, according to a report from the Tampa Police Department.

The tractor-trailer driver was traveling slowly, with lights flashing, possibly due to the vehicle having mechanical problems, according to the report. The car rear-ended the truck and a person in the Mazda, who became trapped, had to be removed from the vehicle by Tampa Fire Rescue personnel.
