Officials Contain Brush Fire on Lithia-Pinecrest

The fire scorched 11 acres but was brought under control before it could do further damage.

UPDATE, 2:25 p.m.

A fire in the area of 7242 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. has been brought under control after burning roughly 11 acres on Monday, April 1.

It took first responders about three hours to contain the blaze, with crews from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forestry responding to the brush fire.

Firefighters' aggressive response kept the blaze from spreading to 200 acres of nearby land. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office used a helicopterto fight the blaze.

No homes are threatened at this time, with firefighters from Hillsborough Fire Rescue and the Florida Forestry working to contain the blaze. There is a potential of 200 acres of brush in the area.
