The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a two-car crash that killed two Riverview residents on U.S. 301 in Wimauma around 8 p.m. Saturday night.
Troopers said 26-year-old William Cole Boyd of Riverview was headed southbound on the highway in his 2011 Dodge Caliber.
The FHP said he lost control of his car, went into the northbound lanes at Ayeresworth Glen Boulevard and hit 44-year-old Ana Simon, also of Riverview, in her 2008 Toyota Corolla.
Boyd was reportedly ejected from the car. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Both drivers received critical injuries. They were airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where they later died.
