Family, Friends Say Goodbye to Johanna Zeitler

The 73-year-old former Brandon resident died June 28.

Friends and family of Johanna Zeitler will gather to celebrate her life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Valrico. 

Zeitler died Friday, June 28 at the age of 73. 

The Philadelphia native married Frank J. Zeitler at the age of 18 and moved to El Paso, Texas, where her husband was stationed with the Air Force.

She began her marriage as a homemaker and then worked for the State Attorney's Office, where she retired. 

The couple raised four children, including her son, Rick Zeitler of Brandon, a deacon at St. Stephen Catholic Church.  

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Zeitler was an avid reader, loved to play mahjong and bingo and enjoyed crafting, knitting, quilting and listening to Italian opera. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, retired Lt. Col. Frank J. Zeitler, and her brothers, Gene and Joseph Guarracino.

In addition to her son, Rick, and his wife, Laura, she is survived by her daughters, Darla (Jose) Arellano, Linda (Jim) Van Cleve and Heidi (Dan) Noyes; sisters, Nancy Salcito, Marie Autodore and Linda Guarracino; grandchildren, Richelle Zeitler, Jordan Zeitler, Ryan Zeitler, Adam Arellano, Thomas Arellano, James Van Cleve, Aaron Van Cleve and Daniella Marie Noyes; and an extended loving family.

Following the Mass at St. Stephen, she will be buried at Limona Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Stephen Catholic Church Building Fund, 5049 Bell Shoals Rd., Valrico FL 33596.
