Organizations Sought for Annual Riverview Trick or Treat Street

The event is scheduled for Oct. 22 at Riverview High School.

It’s time once again for Trick or Treat Street.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce, along with Riverview High School, are preparing for this annual community event that provides children of all ages a safe environment to share in the tradition of trick or treating.

This year's Trick or Treat Street will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverview High School,11311 Boyette Rd., Riverview.

At Trick or Treat Street, local businesses and organizations show their community spirit by dressing up, decorating a façade or booth and distributing candy or small toys to children of all ages. Prize ribbons are awarded for booth design and decoration in several categories.

There will be costume contests for children of all ages with a $3 registration fee prior to Oct. 21 or $5 registration at the event. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each age group: 0-3 years; 4-7 years; 8-11 years; 12 and older. Registration ends 30 minutes before each contest. The costume contest for children age 0-3 years begins at 5 p.m.; 4-7 years at 5:45 p.m.; 8-11 years at 6:30 p.m.; 12 and older at 7:15 p.m.

There also will be a dog costume contest at 6 p.m. with a registration fee of $10. Proceeds benefit Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort Inc. (C.A.R.E.).

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Prizes, small toys and individually wrapped candy donations are welcomed as well. All donations can be delivered to the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce office located in the Boardwalk of Riverview Offices at 10011 Water Works Lane in Riverview. 

The fee for a booth entry is $45 for Riverview chamber members and $75 for community members. Local churches, nonprofit organizations and civic groups are encouraged to participate for a reduced booth entry rate of $25. 

Admission is free. A pumpkin-decorating contest, food, drinks and some games will be available for an additional cost. Parking is $3.  Armbands will be available for sale for unlimited use of the inflatable rides; $8 in advance or $10 at the event.
