Stride for Strays

The Animal Coalition of Tampa (ACT) will host this year’s Stride for Strays fundraising event, presented by the Petco Foundation, on Sunday, Oct. 21 from noon to 6 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa.

Now celebrating its 12th year, this popular event brings together animal lovers and their pets from all over the Tampa Bay area for a 3k walk to help raise funds for The ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic and its new, larger facility.

Walkers can register at the event’s official website, where they can also form or join teams, create their own personal webpage to solicit donations and access social media tools to get the word out about their participation to family and friends. Top prizes will be awarded for teams and individual walkers. Non-walkers are also welcome to attend.

In addition to the walk, an afternoon of food, fun and entertainment is planned. There will be live music from Gold-N-Fire, raffles, pet contests and games, people and pet massages, face painters, paw prints and more. Food trucks and a food court will be on site and beer and wine will be available for purchase during the event.

Vendor and sponsorship packages are still available. Vendors that may be interested in setting up a table or booth should go to http://stridevendors.eventbrite.com for more information. ACT is a licensed, 501c3 organization founded in 2001 with a mission to end killing as a means of animal control. To date, ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic has fixed over 65,000 dogs and cats and helped thousands more with other low-cost surgical and medical services. This past summer, the clinic’s move to a larger facility has enabled ACT to broaden the impact and save more lives. ACT’s low prices reach communities that otherwise could not afford the critical and lifesaving procedures that enable them to continue the love and care that they offer their pets.
