What Are You Willing to Do for the Lord?

In Mark 8, Jesus tells us that we must take up the cross and follow Him.

Throughout Mark 8, Jesus presents a tutorial on discipleship. At first we may be clueless but eventually we get it.

In today's passage (Mk 8:31-38), He throws us not one but two sucker punches! Just when we figure out Jesus is the Messiah, Jesus tells us that He is not the geo-political leader we were expecting who was to solve all of our problems ... He is the suffering servant who will suffer, die and rise after three days. Peter is blown away.

But Jesus doesn't stop there, He states that if we are to be His disciples we must deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. Seriously? He continues: If we are to be fully alive, we must be willing to die to the world.

What are you willing to do for the Lord? Or better yet, what are you NOT willling to do?
