Contest Gives Tampa Bay Musicians a Chance to be Heard

Tampa, FL – Florida’s
Third Annual Listening Room Festival presents a contest to select the six
winners, including one Florida Based artist, for a featured performance at the
Showcase Finale on Sunday, April 6th, 2014 at The Palladium in St.
Petersburg, Florida, the hub of Florida’s yearly Listening Room Festival.
Scheduled next year for April 1st though April 7th , the week-long
event will also allow the performers to create a Florida tour of paying gigs
with a mix of house concerts, office concerts, charity performances and more. At
least two of the Top Ten acts selected will be Florida resident artists. One
will be a Featured Showcase Finale Artist and both will have the chance to
perform at promo events prior to and during the Festival.

“This
Listening Room Festival is all about music, community and charity. House
concert presenters and venues, music fans and artists will gather and connect
in ‘listening rooms’ throughout Tampa Bay,” says Festival Coordinator Kathy
McGuire. “By partnering with the Tampa Bay business community, we will be
adding office concerts, officially launching this new concept of ‘listening
rooms’ within our thriving arts community as part of the festival in 2014.”

Beginning
Thursday, July 18th through Thursday, August 15th,
artists may submit two videos and their website along with a $60 application
fee. Judges will include industry professionals, house concert hosts, listening
room venues and fans. The winners will be announced on Sunday, September 15th
via The Listening Room Festival website, Facebook Page and Twitter
account
.

This
is the first time that the Festival is opening the application process to
non-members of ConcertsInYourHome.com. “It’s a fantastic opportunity motivates artists to step up their game and create videos as part
of their promo kit,” music
innovator Fran Snyder, Founder of the Listening
Room Network’s
family
of affiliated companies, explains. “All an artist needs is
a decent video camera, even an iPhone, to record a song that might not only win
them a place in our Festival line-up, but increase their bookings and create more
profitable tours for them.”
