Tropical Storm Emily Projected to Bypass Florida

The latest forecast has the fifth tropical storm skimming the east coast.

The latest trajectory by the National Hurricane Center has Tropical Storm Emily sideswiping the southern East Coast with Tampa Bay now out of the cone of uncertaintly.

The latest advisory shows the storm is continuing to move to the west and is poorly organized.

In its advisory issued at 8 a.m., the National Hurricane Center reported that Emily is moving west at 14 mph with sustained winds of 50 mph. It is now about 145 miles south-southeast of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

The National Hurricane Center predicts a slight strengthening of the storm before the center moves over Hispaniola.
