Tractor-Trailer Crash Causes Partial Closure on I-75

A tractor-trailer driven by a Riverview man improperly changed lanes and overturned Wednesday afternoon in Pasco County , according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Interstate 75 South in Wesley Chapel was partially closed for two hours this afternoon after a tractor-trailer improperly changed lanes and struck another vehicle.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, truck driver Julio Rosario Alicea, 45, of Riverview was traveling southbound on I-75 when he changed from the inside lane to the outside lane. During the change, Alicea struck the side of a 2007 Toyota Prius driven by Thea Moore, 40, of Wesley Chapel.

Alicea over-corrected to the left, then to the right, which caused his vehicle to overturn and strike the guardrail.

The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. this afternoon. No injuries were reported, FHP said. Moore also had a 4-year-old in the car.

Alicea was cited for an improper lane change, and the crash remains under investigation.
