Shoot Clays With the Sheriff for a Good Cause

FishHawk Sporting Clays to host 'Sporting Clays Shoot Out' with Sheriff David Gee on Oct. 14 to benefit Operation Helping Hand and the Haley House.

Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee will be shooting sporting clays for a good cause Friday, and he's inviting the public to join him.

The annual "Sporting Clays Shoot Out," to be held 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at FishHawk Sporting Clays, 13505 Hobson Simmons Rd., Lithia, will help benefit Operation Helping Hand and the Haley House. The organizations help wounded military service members in the Tampa Bay area and their families.

Proceeds will also benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides a free college education for the children of service members killed in a training accident or operational mission.

Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. Friday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start to follow. Registration fees are $125 for an individual or $500 and up for a team of four.

Participants will receive a gift bag, T-shirt, catered lunch and a ticket for door prizes. Ammunition will be provided, but participants must bring their own hearing and eye protection.
