The 2013 Florida Strawbrerry Festival kicks off today, Friday, March 8, with T.G. Sheppard and Janie Fricke set to perform at 3:30 p.m., followed by Scotty McCreery at 7:30 p.m.

2013 Florida Strawberry Festival: Need To Know Friday, March 8

Today is The Tampa Tribune and TBO.com Day on the Midway at the 2013 Florida Strawberry Festival.

• Time is from noon to 10 p.m.
• With coupon, $4 off the $20 regular price for Fun Pack Ride Coupon Book.

Today is Moonlight Magic at the 2013 Florida Strawberry Festival.

• Ride most mechanical rides for $20 per person.
• All patrons entering the midway for this event will be required to purchase a $20 wristband.
• Time is from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
• All patrons entering the festival fairgrounds for Moonlinght Magic will be subject to a search.

Also at the festival today:

• Gates open and close at 10 a.m. 

• The midway opens at noon.

• Admission is $10 for people age 13 and up and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children age 5 and under are admitted for free when accompanied by a paying adult.

• The Strawberry Mashed Potato Pie-Eating Contest is set for noon to noon at the Stingray Chevrolet Entertainment Tent.

• The Livestock Judging Contest is set for 3 to 5 p.m. at the Patterson Co. Livestock Arena.

• T.J. Sheppard and Janie Fricke are set to perform 3:30 p.m. on the Wish Farms Soundstage.

• Showmanship Judging - Beef Breed is set to begin 6 p.m. at the Swindle Family Pavilion.

• Kari & Billy are scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Borden Dairy Strawberry Tent.

• Karaoke Contest is set for 7 p.m. at the Sweetbay Supermarket Showcase Tent.

• Scotty McCreery is set to perform 7:30 p.m. on the Wish Farms Soundstage.
