Leave A Comment: Thank a Vet This Memorial Day

Are you taking a moment out this Memorial Day weekend to remember those who gave it all for America?

Memorial Day is about more than barbecues and a day off from work and school. It’s the one day each year set aside for Americans to remember those who fought and died on behalf of the country.

The holiday got its start following the Civil War and was originally called Decoration Day, according to History.com. It became an official federal observance in 1971.

As Memorial Day 2013 makes its arrival, Carrollwood-Northdale Patch would like to say thank you to those who gave everything for America. While today is meant to remember those who have fallen, we'd also like to send out our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has served or who is still serving.
