Bottleneck Commute: 132 Vehicles in 169 Seconds

A snapshot look at the morning commute, filmed May 29 from the intersection of Lithia-Pinecrest Road and Lynx Paw Trail.

Periodically, the Bloomingdale-Riverview Patch will report on live traffic in the Bloomingdale-Riverview area. This video showcases the bottleneck pressure point on Lithia-Pinecrest Road, starting at its connection with Lynx Paw Trail.

The intersection marks the entrance to Lithia Springs Elementary School, across the street from the Lynx Paw Trail shopping center and adjacent to the River Hills Country Club and gated residential community.

This video, shot around 8 a.m. May 29, is from the traffic light, moving south; by our count, it captures 132 vehicles in 169 seconds.

When school is in session, it is not unusual to see traffic at this time backed up as far as the eye can see, in both directions, from the perspective of motorists leaving the River Hills community.

Some relief, though, is forthcoming. The last day of school for Hillsborough County public school students is Friday, June 6. High school seniors had their last day of classes today, May 29.
