"We will then travel along Bayshore, at your own pace (walk, run, ride) at around 6 p.m.," notes Patch blogger Rich Bishop, in his announcement post at South Tampa Patch.

The Boston bombings "have shaken me personally a little more than previous attacks on our country," Bishop says in a Bloomingdale-Riverview Patch post. "I think it's because I grew up not too far from where it all took place."

Patriot’s Day is a day of celebration, "a day to mark the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the beginning of the Revolutionary War," Bishop adds. "I have been in downtown Boston as the early Red Sox game gets out in time for people to spill out of Fenway and watch the end of the Marathon. There are thousands of people, crowded together, celebrating what it means to be an American. The last thing anyone would expect on this day is to have to run for their lives."
