Avoid Expressway at Rush Hour For A Few Months, FDOT Says

The westbound Selmon Expressway has been reduced to a single lane in the area near 22nd Street.

Delays and construction along the Selmon Expressway are fairly common place. But, the Florida Department of Transportation is warning drivers that traffic headed into downtown Tampa during rush hour may be really bad for the next few months.

The westbound Selmon Expressway has been reduced to a single lane in the area near 22nd Street. FDOT expects that single lane to remain for about three months while construction in the area continues.

"Due to heavy traffic and delays caused by the closed lane, motorists going to downtown Tampa are encouraged to use the Reversible Express Lanes during
the morning commute to avoid the congestion on the lower level," official wrote in an email to Patch.
