Eating Enough Fruits and Vegetables? An Interview with Jay Ayres

Jay Ayres is driven by a passion to inspire greater health and wellness in our community.  His wife Penny worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiology for over 20 years.  Throughout her tenure Jay was able to gain valuable insight into the correlations between nutrition and health.  The focus of Jay’s work is with Juice Plus+.  Juice Plus+ is a whole food nutrition product.  Simply put it is fruit, vegetables, berries, and grains with the water and most of the fiber removed, placed in a capsule or chewable form. It is non-GMO, gluten free, and certified Kosher and by NSF. The fruits and vegetables are grown without herbicides or pesticides and allowed to fully ripen before they are picked and juiced. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jay and talk a little more about Juice Plus+.

Jay came to work with Juice Plus+ after an invitation to a wellness presentation.  He says, “The research on Juice Plus+ made it an easy decision for me to switch from taking a multi-vitamin at the time, to start taking Juice Plus+. My wife works in cardiology and began taking my Juice Plus+ about a month later; I became a distributor to simply get a discount for the purpose of saving money on two orders. I began sharing clinical research regarding nutrition, wellness, and disease prevention with our close friends, family, and neighbors. Significant health improvement from taking Juice Plus+ fueled a passion to help and educate others. My wife and I now provide professional support and counseling on whole food nutrition, wellness, disease prevention and the Juice Plus+ virtual franchise opportunity.”  It is currently recommended that we consume 7-13 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables per day.  For many of us, this can be a difficult task.  While taking in fresh fruits and vegetables is preferable, “Juice Plus+ is the next best thing to bridge the gap between what you actually eat versus what you should eat.”

The benefits of this product are similar to the benefits of having a diet high in fruits and vegetables (only Juice Plus+ offers this in a convenient form).  This includes, “reduced systemic inflammation and oxidative stress throughout the whole body while supporting cardiovascular wellness.” “This benefits every person who takes Juice Plus+, especially athletes, high stress life styles, and those seeking rapid recovery in physiological rehabilitation and those suffering from chronic disease. Additionally, Juice Plus+ boosts the immune system to reduce the number of sick days missed from work or school. There are other numerous benefits and all backed and supported by clinical research from major medical and institutions.”

Another product which has my particular interest is The Tower Garden. “The Tower Garden is our aeroponic gardening system which allows anyone to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers on their patio or porch with no soil or growing median. These two products further support the company’s mission to inspire healthy living around the world.”  This is an absolutely fantastic idea which allows you to cultivate your own fresh produce, even if your space is limited.  I know that Jay has been speaking with local schools regarding the implementation of this product, and I think it would be wonderful program which would provide education and better nutrition for our children.  Additionally, this could be a great product in the work place.  Considering its small footprint, it has the potential to provide some sustainable, organic produce for your daily lunch or dinner.

As we spoke further, Jay shared, “Most medical experts agree that prevention is less costly and easier than trying to cure disease. And, that 75% of all chronic disease is preventable through nutrition. And unfortunately, some people confuse “being fit or fitness” with “good health”. Everyone should practice disease prevention in some manner. You can’t feel prevention and you can’t usually feel disease until it’s too late.”  I could not agree more with this statement.  Proper diet and nutrition is an essential component to overall health and wellness.  A foundational component to my practice is addressing and discussing nutritional information with my patients.  Daily, I post advice, inspiration, and motivation to my Facebook Page and blog.  Jay Ayers is fantastic local resource offering a unique product.  If you or someone you know is not getting the 7-13 serving of fruits and vegetables per day, Juice Plus+ may be the answer.  To find out more about Juice Plus+ or the Tower Garden you may order online at WholeFoodHeart.com or contact Jay (813-323-1711) or his wife Penny (813-505-8815) directly.  Additionally, Jay told me they “offer a high level of support at no additional cost. With a sponsoring adult, children can get Juice Plus+ for up to four years free, with our Children’s Health Study program. This is for children 4 years of age through college.”
