Winn-Dixie To Cover Initial Prescription Costs For Customers Transitioning To The Public Health Insurance Marketplace

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. today announced that its in-store pharmacies will fill up to a 30-day supply of most prescription medications at no up-front cost to those customers who have enrolled in the Affordable Care Act's Public Health Insurance Marketplace but have not yet received their permanent plan identification cards. This offer is in effect from now until Jan. 31, 2014.

“Many of our customers need their prescriptions immediately and without interruption,” said John Fegan, Winn-Dixie’s vice president of pharmacy. “By filling certain prescriptions at no up-front cost for up to 30 days, we hope to help make their transition to the Public Health Insurance Marketplace a little easier.”

To receive this benefit, customers will need to visit their local Winn-Dixie pharmacy and provide confirmation of enrollment in the Public Health Insurance Marketplace. Acceptable forms of confirmation include, but may not be limited to, email, letters or temporary identification cards. Customers are encouraged to call or visit a Winn-Dixie pharmacy for more information and may find a location at www.winndixie.com.

To help take the burden off of customers, Winn-Dixie pharmacies will continue to submit and process the claims until verification of coverage is received. Once the process is complete, Winn-Dixie pharmacies will contact customers to confirm coverage acceptance.
