Chamber Webinar On BP Lawsuit

The Viral Commerce Committee of the Valrico-FishHawk Chamber of Commerce will host a webinar titled "Claiming Yours from the Deepwater Horizon Court Settlement" Thursday, Aug. 8 from 12:30 to 1 p.m. 

The webinar will be presented by the Economic Recovery Group, a business and consumer law firm. 

ERG is a statewide law firm representing businesses along Florida's west coast who suffered direct or indirect economic losses after the April 20, 2010, BP oil spill.

Under the new BP class action settlement, Gulf Coast businesses are likely eligible for a portion of the more than $20 billion that BP has allocated to business and individual economic claims.  Many business owners assume that their losses have to be directly related to the oil spill to qualify for the Settlement Program, but that's simply not the case.

Most industries are eligible under the terms of the settlement.

However, most business owners simply do not know that they are specifically included within the terms of the new settlement agreement, and that they may well have valid claims. Unlike many class actions where notices are mailed to potential claimants, BP is not obligated to tell anyone.
