Winthrop Publix Now Offering Dietician's Services

You might not recognize her now. But Jamie Stolarz will become a familiar face at the Winthrop Town Centre Publix, 11109 Winthrop Market St. in Riverview.

A registered dietician, Stolarz has joined the staff of the Winthrop Publix to offer advice, tips and assistance to shoppers regarding their food choices.

“The Publix Dietician Service is designed to assist customers with every aspect of good nutrition, including interactive tours, lively discussion, one-on-one shopping assistance, meal planning, pantry makeovers and more,” said Shannon Patten, Publix spokeswoman.

Stolarz is an expert on nutrition, translating food science into practical solutions that will help customers achieve their dietary goals, said Patten. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Florida Dietetic Association and Tampa Dietetic Association.

"Jamie enjoys turning science into practical information to make nutrition information fun and educational, whether for a group or an individual. She takes a creative approach, using visuals and interactive techniques to make lessons memorable," said Patten.

Stolarz said she is excited to help customers learn what they need, make eating right fun and develop a plan that’s customized to their lifestyles. 

Some of the services she will offer include:

• Grocery Store Tours
  The more the merrier for an interactive grocery store tour. Themes include choosing healthy grains, heart health and shopping on a budget. Whatever your group’s hot topic, she's got a tour to match.
• Personal Shopping Assistance
  Customers can meet one-on-one with Stolarz and get personal about  special dietary needs. She'll give tips on the right foods for the customer in each aisle of the grocery store, plus offer meal suggestions the customer can take home.
• Nutrition Counseling
  Customers can make an appointment to receive a nutrition plan tailored just for them -- from weight loss to heart health, healthy eating to living gluten-free.
• Learn What Publix Has to Offer You
  This free tour lets customers in on a little secret: Publix has a ton of resources to help them shop healthier, like its Nutritional Facts Tags and information-packed free brochures. Learn about all Publix programs, the basics of reading food labels and more.
• Meal Planning
  Do you struggle with answering the question, “What’s for dinner?” Do you, or does someone in your family, have a special dietary need? Ta-da—Stolarz can help with a personalized meal plan designed for your family. Choose one-week or one-month meal plans to help you realize your goals.
• Pantry Makeover
  In need of a fast, healthy fix? Stolarz can come to the rescue of meals and snacks everywhere with a customized list of items to keep on hand so a quick, healthy and tasty meal or snack is always at your fingertips.

Publix will host an open house Friday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to noon to inform the community, including doctors, athletes and hospitals, about this new service.
