Salt Grotto Health Spa Celebrates Grand Opening

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Tuesday, June 11.

The Tampa Bay area's first salt room health spa and inhalation clinic has opened in Riverhills Plaza, 4329 Lynx Paw Trail, off Lithia-Pinecrest Road.

The Salt Grotto, owned by Bloomingdale East resident Susanne Murray, brings together the healing powers of ancient salt therapy with state-of-the-art technology to promote better breathing and improve the condition of the skin.

A quiet, serene Himalayan-style salt cave environment offers relaxation while clients breathe the cool, salty air. Salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, is a drug-free treatment that helps clients with allergies like hay fever, respiratory ailments like asthma, emphysema, COPD, bronchitis, cold or influenza.

The salt acts as an expectorant, accelerating mucus clearance and improving lung function while killing harmful bacteria and soothing the respiratory system.

It also helps skin ailments like psoriasis, eczema and acne without any side effects.

In addition, salt is a natural antiinflammatory, helping to ease the ache of inflamed muscles. your muscles.

“Natural remedies that have been around for centuries are finding their way into our everyday lives,” said Murray. “We want to be the first in our area to share salt therapy with the community.”

During the therapy sessions, clients can relax, enjoy music or read in the Salt Grotto's cozy spa-like salt covered rooms while breathing in microscopic salt particles.

Microscopic particles of the purest pharmaceutical-grade salt are pumped into treatment rooms through halogenerators and are ionized, creating a negatively charged, dry aerosol environment. When those tiny particles are breathed into the lungs or come into contact with skin, they help open airways, reduce inflammation, boost the immune system and increase serotonin levels.

Safe for all ages, adults can choose restorative or therapeutic treatment in a group therapy room with six chairs. A typical treatment lasts 45 minutes.

A child's session allows children to experience the benefits of salt therapy, playing in the salt-covered floor with toys at times scheduled for your the parent's convenience.

The Salt Grotto also offers therapy in a private room. The unit provides an intense healing environment in just a 15-minute session that can be completely controlled for individual needs using a system of treatment levels. The salt therapy bed is an enclosed dry salt unit with a fully automatic and adjustable halogenerator for both individual skin and lung therapy.

The Salt Grotto offers adult salt therapy single sessions for $45; packages of four to 12 sessions for $50 to $200, children’s salt therapy single sessions for $20 and $10 for siblings, salt therapy bed single session for $30

Residents are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration for The Salt Grotto with the Valrico-FishHawk Chamber of Commerce is planned for Tuesday, June 11 at noon. 

The Salt Grotto is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
