Riverview Marketing Firm Makes Move To Historic Ybor City Site

Mace Multimedia's new home was once a brothel and speakeasy.

Mace Multimedia, a local marketing and design firm, has moved its office to a historic building in Ybor City.

On the corner of 16th and 7th avenues sits a building once owned by Tampa’s first crime lord, Charlie Wall. Commonly known as White Shadow, Wall was a legendary bootlegger, fixed elections and ran bolita, an illegal lottery, during the 1920s and '30s.

The brick building used to be a brothel and often housed speakeasy sessions during the turbulent times of Ybor City’s past.

Now, the building contains apartments and office spaces on the top level and a restaurant/bar on the bottom level.

Mace Multimedia owners, Gabrielle Perham and Manny Potter, were attracted to the history of the building.

“Our new Ybor City location serves as daily inspiration. The building’s wild past, its unique setting and the energy that surrounds it outside all work to inspire our creativity and motivate us to do great things each day," said Perham.

Founded by Manny Potter, Mace Multimedia opened in 2011 in Riverview. Perham joined the firm soon after.

Mace Multimedia has now grown from a two-person team to a group of four that handle all aspects of media including copy, print and web design, graphic design, marketing consultations and press releases.

The new address for Mace Multimedia is 1603 ½ E. 7th Ave., Suite 5, Tampa. For information, call 813-704-0460.
