Teams Forming for Local Relays for Life

Relays are planned for Newsome, Bloomingdale and Riverview high schools.

Teams are now forming for the upcoming spring Relays For Life, taking place at Bloomingdale, Riverview and Newsome high schools.

Relay For Life is a national fundraising project of the American Cancer Society. Teams raise funds to fight cancer and find a cure and then participate in a rally at local high schools where survivors and friends walk around the high school tracks throughout the night in a show of unity. The event also pays tribute to victims of cancer through a luminaria display.

The Riverview Relay For Life will take place March 31 at 2 p.m. at . Riverview currently has 36 teams and 325 participants registered with $15,556 raised so far.

The Bloomingdale Relay is set for April 13 at . There are 27 teams and 161 participants registered for the Bloomingdale event, raising $1,811.

And the FishHawk Relay for Life is scheduled for March 31 starting at noon at . There are 24 teams and 168 participants so far and $6,019 has been raised.
