New Wal-Mart Opening in Bloomingdale Hills Shopping Center

Wal-Mart lovers will have a new place to shop next year.

Wal-Mart has announced the opening of a new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at 10863 Bloomingdale Ave., in the Bloomingdale Hills Shopping Center just west of Providence Road in a space previously occupied by Albertsons.

The new store is expected to open the first quarter of 2012.

According to Wal-Mart's website, Walmart Neighborhood Markets offer a quick and convenient shopping experience for customers who need groceries, pharnmaceuticals and general merchandise at Wal-Mart's "Every Day Low Prices."

First opened in 1998, there are now 164 Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets, each employing about 95 associates. A typical store is about 42,000 square feet while a traditional Wal-Mart is 108,000 square feet.

The neighborhood markets feature fresh produce, meat and dairy products, frozen foods, dry goods and staples, health and beauty aids, stationery and paper goods, a drive-through pharmacy, deli foods, bakery items, canned and packaged goods, condiments and spices, pet supplies, household supplies and a one-hour photo center.
