More Kudos For FishHawk Ranch

The community garnered three awards for implementing sustainable practices and thoughtful land planning.

FishHawk Ranch recently earned three prestigious distinctions for implementing sustainable practices and thoughtful land planning within its community.

These awards were presented during the Southeast Building Conference’s 2013 Aurora Awards, a competition run by the Florida Home Builders Association for projects located within the 12-state Southeastern region and Eastern Caribbean.

FishHawk Ranch is owned in a joint venture partnership between North America Sekisui House LLC, a subsidiary of Sekisui House Ltd., Japan’s largest homebuilder, and Newland Real Estate Group LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of the community.

It is one of more than 30 communities the NASH-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.

“Newland Communities is committed to sustainable planning and we work hard to create excellent experiences for our residents long before they even purchase their homes,” said Tom Panaseny, general manager and vice president of operations for Newland Communities. “These two awards speak to the rigorous planning that went into making FishHawk Ranch the great community it is today.”

FishHawk Ranch’s “Green Construction” Aurora Award applauded how numerous aspects of the community take the environment into account – from construction using sustainable building materials to a walkable and bikeable community design that reduces road congestion.

In early planning, FishHawk Ranch located roads to preserve vegetation and trees, and let natural elements guide design.

Several of FishHawk Ranch’s buildings, such as the Tennis Club, Information Center and Starling Club, are LEED certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, further demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices.

FishHawk Ranch was also recognized specifically for its Starling neighborhood with “Best Community Site Plan” Aurora and Grand Aurora Awards. These awards commemorate innovation, land-use planning, superior design and quality of the living environment.

The Starling neighborhood  offers parks and trails that connect residents to the FishHawk Sports Complex and Starling amenities, which include the FishHawk Ranch Tennis Club and the Starling Club. The neighborhood is also adjacent to the Alafia River and land protected by Hillsborough County’s Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program.
