Military Wife Touts Chamber's Fledgling Military Affairs Committee

The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce is deepening its focus on military interests and families.

The Riverview chamber of commerce is pushing forward with its plans to establish a military affairs committee, which has been a staple at the Brandon chamber for years.

"We're in beginning stages of the military affairs committee for the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce," said chamber member Fran Harring. "We think it's needed, primarily targeted for the SouthShore area.

Harring, at the Riverview  chamber's June 25 membership luncheon, said she has a great interest in the evolving committee, "because I've been a military wife for 22 years and I've been working with a host of military organizations and we really feel that there is a need now."

The aim is "to provide a support system for military people and their families," she added. Also, to link up with the many military focused groups and organizations in the area.

"Everybody is doing their own thing, more or less, and we want to pull it together, work together, to meet the needs of military people," Harring said.

Harring said the committee is chaired by Joe Eletto. For information, call the Greater Riverview Chamber or Commerce at 813-234-5944.
