Immigration Lawyer Takes RNC Week Off

A Fishawk Ranch immigration lawyer hoped to see free speech in action during the Republican National Convention.

Neil Lewis calls it a forced vacation.

Lewis said his immigration law practice is above Lonnie’s Sandwich Shop downtown. But it is closed this week because of the difficulty for clients and staff to make it to the office because of security downtown as part of the Republican National Convention.

“Why do they have to take over the whole city,” Lewis said as he sipped a Michelob Light outside of Paninoteca Cafe Tuesday around lunchtime.

Lewis, of Fishawk Ranch, said he came downtown with the intent to see free speech put to practice - so far all he got was disappointment.

He said he yelled “free speech” on the street to no riposte. Lewis also said .

“All I see is a walled off compound,” said Lewis, who wears his Democratic Party pride proudly. “Who are they (law enforcement) prepared for, really?”
