These photographs give testament to the advertising under way for the holiday that celebrates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War, according to History.com.

Noted as "a relatively minor holiday in Mexico," the report addresses how in the United States, "Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations."

To celebrate here at home, we've posted a couple photographs and invite business owners and representatives of groups and organizations to post their own as well, giving notice as to how local residents could celebrate the May 5 holiday.
