FishHawk Sidekicks Emphasizes Diligence in October

October 2011 is Diligence Month as part of Sidekicks Family Martial Arts Center's Powerful Words Character Development program.

Students will study, develop and experience life lessons focusing on becoming diligent people in a fun and powerful way that benefits everybody in the community. 

In addition to all of the physical skills they'll be working on in October, students will discuss and practice the following concepts that will help them to appreciate the value and benefit of becoming a person who completes tasks with great care and consistent effort.

• Diligence defined:  What does it mean to work carefully and with great effort?

• Paying Attention to detail: What gets in the way? What helps me to focus?

• P.A.C.E.  Prepare, Act, Continue/Commit, Evaluate - What is my mindset?

• Rewards and consequences: What are the results of my actions?

“Children who work hard often don’t attribute success to being smart, but rather persistent and diligent. When we tell children that effort is the key to their success, they are much less likely to give up and much more likely to buckle down and continue to work hard,” said Dr. Robyn Silverman, Sidekicks’ child and adolescent expert, and creator of the Powerful Words Character Development system used at the facility at 16633 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia.
