Young Artists to be Honored at Beaux Arts Gallery

The gallery hosted its second annual Small Works art contest, inviting students from Hillsborough County schools to show off their artistic talents.

Students will vie for a cash prize and an opportunity to have their artwork on exhibit when the Beaux Arts Gallery in Winthrop Town Centre hosts its second annual Small Works Show.

An artists' reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the gallery, 11252 . Winthrop Main St., Riverview. An awards ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Sixty-nine students from Hillsborough County schools submitted their artworks for this year's show.

Of these submissions, 15 were selected by the gallery juror for the competition.

All artwork is for sale for $100, and will be available for purchase at the artists' reception.

The gallery sent out notices to the schools in October inviting children to participate in the juried art show by producing a work of art reminiscent of Chagall.

Students were encouraged to work at home creating a Chagall-inspired work of art on 8 1/2 by 11 paper using a variety of media.
