Joshua Generation to Host Winter Showcase

The theater discipleship and production company will showcase the talents of more than 40 area home-schooled students.

Valrico resident and American Idol finalist Jeremy Rosado will join The Joshua Generation Musical Theater Discipleship and Production Company as a special guest performer when it presents its 2012 Winter Showcase Thursday, Dec. 6.

The showcase will take place at Christ Community Church, 1310 John Moore Rd., Brandon. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the production begins at 6:30 p.m.

Led by director Lisa Westcott of Brandon, The Joshua Generation of Brandon is a nondenominational Christian organization consisting of 40 homeschooled students, ages 3 to 18, from Brandon, Valrico, Lithia and Riverview who are interested in using their talents to glorify and spread God's message, said Jennifer Amor.

"The discipleship program includes all areas of performing arts training in addition to Bible study, ministry projects and participation in musical productions and evangelistic programs," said Westcott.

"Using impactful dances, hard-hitting dramas, beautiful vocal pieces, breathtaking Bible passage insterpretations and even their own contemporary Christian band, they are inspiring people of all ages to live a life that honors God," continued Westcott.

Weekly classes include training in ballet, jazz, contemporary/lyrical and hip hop, along with vocal training and acting. The children also meet for group Bible study, prayer, and praise and worship time. Students also have the option of joining The Joshua Generation Band.

Admission to the showcase is $5 with children 5 and under admitted for free.
