Get Your Crape Myrtles

Bloomingdale High School, 1700 E Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, is hosting a crape myrtle tree sale Friday, July 27 from 7 to 11 a.m. or until the trees sell out. 

The 1-gallon potted trees will be available in multiple varieties and colors. The cost of the trees is $4. Cash only. Proceeds benefit the Tampa Bay Times Newspaper in Education program, which provides class sets of the Times and other educational resources to bay area classrooms.

Christmas In July

United Methodist Women at Grace Community United Methodist Church at FishHawk, 5708 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Lithia, is hosting a Christmas in July Church Bazaar on Saturday, July 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bazaar will feature arts and crafts, food/produce and home and personal products.

Singer Sandy Nitch will perform jazz, blues and pop favorites Saturday, July 27 at 8 p.m. at the Cork & Olive Wine Bar & Cafe, 1026 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.

FishHawk Tavern 16144 Churchview Dr., Lithia, hosts an Open Mic Comedy Night each Sunday at 8 p.m. Sign-ups start at 7:30 p.m. 

Operation Lemon-Aid

Nothing says summertime like Panera Lemonade. Stop by Panera Bread bakery-café, 10631 Big Bend Rd., Riverview, or 3490 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico, Friday July 26 and Saturday July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and enjoy a refreshing lemonade. 

Show your support by donating a $1 for a sample of home-style lemonade at Lemon-Aid Stands created by Panera Bread associates. All money collected through the Lemon-Aid Stands and Panera's Community Breadboxes during the month of July will be donated to the Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program benefitting the Children's Cancer Center.

Be Prepared

Stop by Home Depot, 10151 Bloomingdale Ave., Riverview, Saturday, July 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and get prepared for a hurricane. 

The free event is part of an unprecedented single-day outreach including more than 700 Home Depot stores from the Gulf Coast to New England to help residents prepare for a hurricane. 

The Home Depot experts will cover critical hurricane readiness topics, such as storm prep projects, generator safety, sizing generators for specific home or business needs and assembling disaster preparedness kits.

Singing About God And Country

The Farm, 7820 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Lithia, will host its monthly singing Friday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. Drinks, chips and other snacks will be available. Several artists will perform songs for their choice. 

Block Party

The Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, invites children in kindergarten through fifth grade to create with Lego blocks Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m.
