Chalk Walk, Artfest, Bunco, Dinner-Theater Planned at Center Place

Residents invited to gather "For the Love of Arts."

Artists and art lovers of all ages are invited to Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Dr., Brandon, Saturday, Sept. 1 for the annual "For the Love of Arts" Chalk Walk along with a "Celebration of the Arts" art show.

The Chalk Walk will kick off at 10 a.m. during which children age 3 and up are invited to create masterpieces in chalk on the sidewalks surrounding Center Place. The Chalk Walk is free but tickets are required and can be obtained at Center Place. Each young artist will receive will receive a box of chalk, a sidewalk section, coupons and freebies from local businesses.

In addition, there will be demonstrations, performances, magic, face painting and music.

Sponsors include Chick-fil-A Lake Brandon Village, Kappa Kappa, Pat's Corner Gift Shop and Coastland Church.

In conjunction with the Chalk Walk, the Brandon League of Fine Arts will host a "Celebration of the Arts" second annual Artfest Fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring the works of novice as well as experienced artists. In addition, there will be holiday arts and crafts available for sale and lunch to purchase.

Beach Blanket Bunco

Center Place will follow up on Thursday, Sept. 20 with a Beach Blanket Bunco fundraiser starting at 6:30 p.m. at Center Place.

In addition to an opportunity to enjoy bunco with friends, the event will include refreshments, Cuban sandwiches, deviled crab and 7th Avenue Salad from La Septima Cafe, a 50/50 raffle and prizes.

The $20 tickets include dinner and drinks and may be purchased at Center Place.

Dinner-Theater

Center Place will kick off its adult theater series Saturday, Sept. 29 with "A Broadway Love Affair" by Salerno Entertainment.

Part of Salerno's new concert cabaret series, veteran performers Hillary Kraus and Michael Matthews will re-create some of Broadway's most tender moments, from the great classics to modern-day hits.

Saturday's show will be a dinner-theater beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a social followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. The cost is $40 per person.

A matinee will be presented Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. The cost is $20 per person.
