Brandon Ballet to Host 3-Week Intensive

Acceptance is by audition at The Dance Center, 161 E. Bloomingdale Ave.

Brandon Ballet, under the artistic direction of Alice Holden Bock, will hold a three-week ballet summer intensive for serious ballet students.

The program offers detailed ballet instruction with an emphasis on technique and supplementary classes that may include pointe work, pas de deux (certain levels) variations, men’s classes, character, jazz, modern, salsa, African and conditioning.

Based at , 161 E. Bloomingdale Ave, Brandon, Brandon Ballet offers small class sizes and a plethora of individual attention; dancers will grow stronger artistically and mentally. Additionally, the program offers training with both national and international guest teachers. Past faculty has included: Adrian Ciobranu, Darya Fedotova, Yaima Franco, Octavio Martin, Richard Munro, Michele Starbuck, and many others who have danced as professional artists and have had extensive teaching careers.

The program concludes with a special in-house presentation, showcasing what the dancers have learned in the three weeks. Acceptance is by audition only; dancers will be notified by mail of audition results. Male scholarships available.

Auditions will be held Saturday, March 3 for dancers age 9 and older. Call for specific times. The audition fee is $25.

Tuition for Level I is $445. Level II and III is $595. A $150 deposit is due by May 1, 2012.

Founded in 1993, Brandon Ballet is a nonprofit regional ballet company that develops and promotes opportunities for aspiring young dancers. By offering a superior training program and two major performances each year, the Brandon Ballet helps serious dancers broaden their dance experiences.

From its humble beginnings, the company has grown to include 38 dancers of varying levels. Professional dancers and training dancers call the Brandon Ballet home. The Brandon Ballet provides Brandon and the surrounding communities with an education in the art of dance and serves the community through performances held at public facilities. All company dancers receive the highest caliber of professional training on a weekly basis and are provided the opportunity to learn standard classical repertoire.
