Whiz Kids: Judy's Dance Students to Perform in 'Wizard of Oz'

Local girls to play Munchkins in National Tour in Lakeland.

Who: Twelve students at Judy's Dance Academy, 1709 S.R. 60 E., Brandon.

Accomplishment: These students will perform the roles of Munchkins in the national tour of "The Wizard of Oz."

Details: When the national tour of "The Wizard of Oz" put out a call for children to play Munchkins in the upcoming production in Lakeland, Judy's Dance Academy answered the call as part of their continuing arts education. Twelve students at Judy's Dance Academy will perform live on stage March 17 at the Lakeland Center.  This opportunity will provide the young dancers with real-life touring theater experience. They will discover what it's like to be part of a professional company, learn choreography by Leigh Constantine and be outfitted in the costume designs of Tim McQuillen-Wright.

The students performing are Samantha Allen, Miranda Alonso, Lauren Cadle, Lauren Irvin, Trista Kulesa, Madalyn Macko, Taylyn Olney, Isabelle Stewart, Alexandra Tiek, Erika Watkins, Melissa Wietholterand Isabella Willitzer.

Tickets for "The Wizard of Oz" are as low as $45 and are available online at www.lakelandcenter.com  or at the Lakeland Center location.
