Severe Storms Pass Through Hillsborough County

Watch out for torrential rains and high winds.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for most of central and north Florida for today, March 30. The watch, which includes the Bloomingdale Patch coverage area, is anticipated to remain in effect until 8 p.m.

According to Ernie Jillson, a meteorologist with the weather service’s Ruskin office, the area should see some heavy storms later this afternoon and into the evening. How far south the severe weather will go remains unclear at this point, he said.

“The threat there would be in the late afternoon into the evening hours,” he said.

Jillson said the bad weather won’t likely appear in the Bloomingdale area until after the commute, but he warned, “keep an eye to the sky and check the weather before you leave.”
