Movie Theaters Offer Midnight Showings of Final Harry Potter Film

Area theaters are hosting midnight screenings of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," the final installment in the popular film series. Some of the screenings have already sold out.

Friday’s opening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2,” the final installment of the popular film series, may mark an end of an era for the Potter faithful.

According to Fandango’s Harry Medved, the latest Harry Potter film has already sold out more than 2,000 showings nationwide – and that was a week in advance of opening.

A number of Tampa Bay theaters are offering midnight screenings of the film, and many of the showings have already sold out. Here’s a recap of what’s happening in the area and what’s available.

AMC Regency Brandon 20

Four screenings scheduled.

The Brandon area's only movie theater will show "Deathly Hallows - Part 2" on four screens at 12:01 a.m., one 2D screen, two 3D and one IMAX. As of July 12, tickets were available online for $14. They also can be purchased at the door.

Cobb CineBistro at Hyde Park Village

1609 W. Swann Ave., Tampa

Four Screenings scheduled.

Two of the four screenings are sold out at Cinebistro. But two more screens may be added - making it a total of six midnight showings of Deathly Hallows, Part 2 in Hyde Park. According to manager Sandra Barrett, the two remaining theaters are half sold. Available show times are 12:10 a.m. (3D) and 12:35 a.m. (2D). Showings may be added at 12:45 a.m. and 12:55 a.m. Call the theater to confirm.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.cobbcinebistro.com. Since CineBistro serves alcohol, movie patrons must be 21 or older. Tickets $17.50 for 3D theater; $14.50 for standard 2D theater. For more information, call 813-514-8300.

Channelside Cinemas 10

Four screenings scheduled.

Two of the four Channelside screenings are sold out – the giant Sony Digital Cinema (340 seats, $14 ticket)) is sold out as well as one of Channelside's 3D screens (300 seats, $11-$12 tickets). A larger 3D theater (380 seats, $11-$12 tickets) has not yet sold out. Tickets also are available for $11-$12 for a standard, 2D screening.

Channelside Cinemas management said that a fourth 3D screening may be added should tickets continue to sell.

Screenings begin at 11:59 p.m. and are spaced five minutes apart.

Muvico Centro Ybor 20

Three screenings scheduled.

Tickets remain available for two of the three screenings of "Deathly Hallows - Part 2" at Muvico’s Centro Ybor 20. The 3D screening is not sold out, nor is one of the standard, 2D screenings. Manager Todd Summerfield said he remembered the first part of "Deathly Hallows" selling better than Friday's "Part 2." Although he did say he may add another screening as walkup purchases may increase demand.

The 3D screening begins at 12:01 a.m. The other screenings begin at 12:02 a.m.
