Great Escape: Lithia Springs Park

Spend the day swimming or the entire weekend camping at this nearby natural resource.

If you're looking to take a refreshing plunge to beat the heat this summer, look no further than Lithia Springs Park, located at 3932 Lithia Springs Road, off Lithia-Pinecrest Road in Lithia.

A favorite gathering place in the area for decades, this 160-acre park located on the Alafia River features a natural spring that provides an excellent swimming experience since the water temperature remains 72 degrees year round.

In addition to swimming, there is a bath house, playground and picnic facilities.

Or spend the weekend exploring the varied plant communities, river cypress swamps, hardwood hammocks and high sand hills in the park. It's a great spot for bird watching and offers 40 campsites plus two shower houses.

Arrive no later than one hour prior to closing time so you can claim your camping spot.

The entry fee is $2 per vehicle. The swimming fee is $2 per person.

During summer, the park is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
