Great Escape: Florida Museum of Photographic Arts

Spend a relaxing day perusing the photography of Ansel Adams at the museum.

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is presenting "Classic Images: Photography of Ansel Adams," at the museum through July 6. This exhibition includes 54 works Adams personally printed for his daughter. It is the portfolio Adams put together in the 1970s with what he felt were the best images from his career. The 15 sections include black and white photographs from 1921 to 1968. Adams' devotion to the American wilderness is evident in his photos of several national parks -- especially images of his beloved Yosemite.

As part of the exhibit, the museum will present an Ansel Adams Documentary Film Screening Wednesday, June 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is free for museum members, $10 for nonmembers.

The museum is located at 200 N. Tampa St., Suite 130, in downtown Tampa. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The museum will be closed July 4.
