GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview Nov. 23-25

With a variety of entertainment venues in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Bloomingdale-Riverview area.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

WHY GO: Small businesses throughout the area will be hosting great deals for holiday shoppers. This is a great way to support small businesses.

BRANDON FRESH MARKET

WHERE/WHEN: The Brandon Fresh Market will take place Saturday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. at Westfield Brandon mall, 459 Brandon Town Center Dr., Brandon, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHY GO: The Brandon Fresh Market is held the second and fourth Saturday of the month at the mall between Sears and the food court. It features fresh produce, fresh baked goods, fresh seafood, entertainment, crafts, jewelry, music, knife sharpening and more.

LEGO BLOCK PARTY

WHERE/WHEN: The Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, will host a LEGO Block Party Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m.

WHY GO: Kids grades kindergarten through eighth grade use LEGO building blocks to build a creative, fun and interactive project. The library provides the LEGOs; kids provide the imagination.

BUCKLER'S CRAFT FAIR

WHERE/WHEN: The Buckler's Craft Fair will take place Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Hall, 4800 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.

WHY GO: The event will feature hundreds of crafters from across the country selling wood crafts, jewelry, quilts, soaps, stitchery, holiday decorations and other items. Admission is $6, good for both days with a hand stamp. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free. Parking is $6 per car.

NIGHT OF SHIMMERING LIGHTS

WHERE/WHEN: The Hillsborough County Fair will kicks off its second annual Night of Shimmering Lights Saturday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds at 4810 State Road 60 in Dover.

WHY GO: Nearly 1 million twinkling lights will decorate the fairgrounds. There will be an animated light show, a Christmas village, an outdoor holiday movie, arts and crafts vendors, pictures with Santa and fresh doughnuts. Admission is $20 per car. The show will run Thursdays through Sundays until Dec. 17 and then nightly up until Christmas.

HOLIDAY FESTIVAL OF TREES

WHERE/WHEN: Westfield Brandon has teamed up with local nonprofit organizations for a Festival of Trees. The trees, decorated by each nonprofit, will be located near Dick’s Sporting Goods.

WHY GO: Shoppers can vote for their favorite via Facebook and the winner will receive a donation from Westfield. Raffle tickets to win a professionally decorated tree will be sold at the Concierge―those proceeds also will go to the nonprofit that receives the most votes. Shoppers can also register to win a $500 shopping spree.
