GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview Nov. 18-20

From a backstage tour of the Brandon Ballet to live music at The Original Leena's Chocolate and Park Square Cellar, we've put together a list of fun things to do in the Bloomingdale area.

WHERE/WHEN: On Nov. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m., the regional ballet company, the Brandon Ballet, holds a free educational backstage tour at the Dance Centre, 161 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon.

WHY GO: Residents are invited to visit the Brandon Ballet and view a rehearsal for the upcoming holiday ballet, "The Nutcracker," as well as a company ballet class. Participants will participate in a question-and-answer session with the dancers of the Brandon Ballet, as well as learn about the costumes used in "The Nutcracker."

WHERE/WHEN: On Nov. 18 from 6 to 10 p.m., The Original Leena's Chocolate, 1048 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, in Plaza Bella, will offer Jazz Under the Stars with Ella.

WHY GO: Residents can enjoy the smooth jazz sounds of singer Ella Chadwell with pianist Jimmy Silva as well as a pasta bar stocked with chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops, various vegetables and sauces along with cheesecake, gelato, coffee and chocolates for $12. Bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner.

WHERE/WHEN: The Frenzie--Life Theatre will present "Cabaret" Nov. 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. as well as a special midnight show Nov. 18 at the Barn Theatre in Winthrop, 11349 Bloomingdale Ave., Riverview.

WHY GO: The show, set in Germany in the 1920s, stars Jennifer Morgan in the role of Sally Bowles along with Oliver Sprague as the master of ceremonies. General admission is $15 for this community theater production. Tickets for seniors, military and students with an ID are $12.

WHERE/WHEN: AJ's Fine Wine & Liquors, 3443 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico, will host a wine tasting from 6 to 9 p.m.

WHY GO: Residents will have a chance to to try Santa Rita, a Chilean wine, and Aquinas, a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

WHERE/WHEN: Stop by Park Square Cellar, 16132 Churchview Dr., Lithia, Nov. 18 from 8 p.m. to midnight to see The Jive Band perform live pop and rock. On Nov. 19 from 8 p.m. to midnight, the Jevon Falco Trio will perform life jazz funk.

WHY GO: Enjoy live music while enjoying a glass or bottle of wine and some lobster pierogis.
