GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 29-31

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Bloomingdale area.

Music at The Farm

Award-winning comedian Barry McGee will perform at The Farm, 7818 Lithia-Pinecrest Road, Lithia, Friday, March 29 starting at 7 p.m. Residents are invited to bring their guitars, banjos, fiddles or other instruments and join in. There will be hamburgers, hotdogs and beverages available for a donation. Come early to assure yourself a seat. The Farm has about 350 seats, however, residents are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

Tail Waggin' Tutors

Children take turns reading to a therapy dog during Tail Waggin' Tutors Friday, March 29 at 4 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Regional Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico. This is a free program for children and families presented in partnership with Therapy Dogs International.

Sonrise Easter Service

The Churches of the Alafia Ministerial will host an Easter Sonrise Service Sunday, March 31 at 8:30 a.m. by the river at Riverview United Methodist Church, 8002 U.S. 301, Riverview.

On Stage

Frenzie Theatre will present “2 Guys, 2 Girls, 1 Stage” Thursday, March 28, Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 at 8 p.m. at Riverview High School, 11311 Boyette Rd., Riverview. General admission is $15 and tickets for seniors, students and military members are $12.

Easter Bunny to Visit

South Shore United Methodist Church, 11525 Big Bend Rd., Riverview, will host a breakfast with the Easter bunny March 30 from 8 to 11 a.m. followed by an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. for children ages 1 to 10. The free event also will include a Veggie Tales video, crafts and free photos with the bunny.

Family Fun Fest

South Brandon Worship Center and Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue, 4929 Bell Shoals Rd., Valrico, will host a Family Funfest and Car and Bike Show Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be cars and motorcycles on display, music, face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses, two treasure hunts and food.

Rise and Grind Car Show

Tampa Wax Slingers of Riverview hosts the Rise and Grind! car show the last Saturday of every month from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Copper Bell Cafe, 11228, Riverview. Residents are invited to bring their classic, antique and muscle cars and enjoy a breakfast buffet for $8.99 while socializing with fellow car lovers.

Spring Tea Fundraiser

Loving God's Children will host a Sprng Tea Fundraiser to benefit foster care families and an orphanage project in Kazakhstan Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Rd., Brandon. Tickets are $25.

Easter Egg Hunt

Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 12404 Boyette Rd., Riverview, will  host an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 30 at 9:30 a.m.

Coin and Currency Show

The Brandon Coin Club will host a Coin and Currency Show Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brandon Elks Lodge, 800 Centennial Lodge Dr., Brandon. The free event will feature 30 dealers with 45 tables of coins and currency. There will be door prizes, appraisals, food and a free coin grab bag for all children under 12 years old.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Bridge of the Bay Church will host Easter worship at 9:50 a.m. followed by a kids' egg hunt, bounce houses and music at YMCA Camp Cristina, 9840 Balm-Riverview Rd., Riverview.

Easter Buffet

Copper Bell Cafe, 11226 Boyette Rd., Riverview, will host an Easter Buffet Sunday, March 31.

There will be seatings at 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. for a full breakfast buffet including an omelet station. The cost is $10.99 for adults and $5.99 for kids 10 and under.

Seatings for a brunch buffet will be at 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The buffet will include an omelet station, soup and salad bar, fresh fruit, honey-glazed ham, slow-roasted beef and gravy, turkey and stuff, and sides. The cost is $14.99 for adults, $7.95 for kids 10 and under.
