GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 15-17

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Bloomingdale area.

Village Players Present 'Godspell'

The Village Players will present the musical "Godspell" Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, at the James McCabe Theater, 506 N. 5th St., Valrico. Regular admission is $12. Students, seniors and military pay $10.

Big Green Egg Fest

FishHawk Pinch-A-Penny, 16715 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia, will host its third annual Big Green Egg Fest Sunday, March 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Attendees will get to sample foods cooked on the Big Green Egg and there will be a raffle for a new pool cleaner, with proceeds going to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a nonprofit that provides services to wounded Special Operations Forces personnel.

St. Patty's Day Party

Park Square Pizza, 16132 Churchview Dr., Lithia, will host a St. Patty's Day Party March 17 from noon to 8 p.m. following the second annual Relay for Life Softball Tournament. For $20, there will be all-you-can-drink Bud, Miller and Mich Ultra, $4 Guinness pints, $5 Jai Alai pints, a Reuben pizza for $15.18 and music by DJ Jake Dela Cruz.

Shamrocks & Shenanigans

Shamrocks & Shenanigans is the theme of the Tampa Renaissance Festival this weekend, March 16 and 17.

Events include a Highlands Games competition including the caber toss, hammer throw and stone toss; a Celtic Village featuring the history of local organizations and clans; Margaret Morrison's Highland Dancers at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:15 and 4 p.m. each day; the Tampa Bay Pipe and Drums at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 and 5 p.m. each day; and a kilt competition.

St. Patrick's Day Party at Raccoon's

Racoon's Bar and Grill, 3240 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Valrico, will host a St. Patrick's Day party in the parking lot starting at noon, Sunday, March 17. It will feature a truck and classic car show, beer-chugging contest, 50/50 raffle, corned beef and cabbage and fish and chips, $1 green jello shots, $4.50 Irish car bombs and $2 green beers. Live music will be provided by XChange Band starting at 1:30 p.m.

Music at Park Square Cellar

Head to Park Square Cellar, 16132 Churchview Dr. Lithia, Friday, March 15, for Motown and '80s music from K-Force from 8 p.m. to midnight and the live blues, blue grass and rock music of the Enclave Trio Saturday, March 16 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Mulligan's Celebrates St. Pat's

Mulligan's Pub, 11375 Big Bend Rd., in Riveview will celebrate St. Patrick's Day all weekend long with $6 green beer pitchers all weekend and buckets of Guinness Black, five for $6. Try Mulligans' Rueben fritters, Irish meatballs, Mulligans stew and fish and chips. 

St. Pat's Celebration at O'Brien's

O'Brien's Irish Pub, 701 W. Lumsden Rd., Brandon, will host a St. Patrick's Day tent party starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 17. Patrons will enjoy live music from the Irish Ramblers. Step dancers will perform in the afternoon and again in the early evening. And O'Brien's will offer 25 percent off food for all seniors, police, military and firefighters (with valid ID).
