With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the area.

WHERE/WHEN: Merchants at Plaza Bella on Bloomingdale Avenue in Valrico will celebrate Christmas in July Friday, July 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. (Green Boutique will be open until 8 p.m.)
WHY GO: Customers are invited to get a jump on the holiday season with , and Customers will enjoy a wine tasting by Cork & Olive, appetizers and live jazz music from saxophone player Jerry Kenny and singer Velvet Leonard. There will be faffles and holiday item previews at each venue. In addition, the merchants are asking everyone to bring a donation for A Kid's Place, a local organization that supports kids in need in the community.

PIGS IN THE PARKING LOT
WHERE/WHEN: The South Shore Chamber of Commerce will host Pigs in the Parking Lot, a barbecue, blues and business expo, July 27 from 4 to 10 p.m. at Sweetbay Plaza, 137 Harbor Village Ln., Apollo Beach.
WHY GO: This free event will feature food, music, business booths, a children’s area and arts and crafts.
WHERE/WHEN: Nashville recording artist Pam Weston will be the special guest at The Farm, 7818 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd., Lithia, July 27 at 7 p.m.
WHY GO: Food will be served at 6:30 p.m. Musicians are invited to bring their own guitar, banjo, fiddle or other acoustic instruments and join the singing. There is no admission but a donation box is available.
WHERE/WHEN: Anchor Atlantic will bring a blend of early jazz and classic rock to Park Square, 16144 Churchview Dr., Lithia, for the Summer Concert Series Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m.
WHY GO: The concert is free but guests are asked to bring nonperishable foods to benefit Feed America Tampa Bay.
WHERE/WHEN: The Exotic Bird Fair and Show will take place Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 N. U.S. 301, Tampa.
WHY GO: The event will feature birds, toys, cages, art, jewelry, food and door prizes. Admission is $5 with children under 10 admitted free. Parking is $6 and visitors are asked to use the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. entrance.
WHAT/WHERE: Youth ages 8 to 18 are invited to celebrate the third annual National Day of Dance with the Brandon Ballet Saturday, July 28 from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Regent, 6437 Watson Rd., Riverview.
WHY GO: Those who sign up will be directed to a link to the online dances they can learn so they can dance with the Brandon Ballet at the event. Admission is $15 and tickets are available at www.shop.brandonballet.org or by calling 813-684-4282.
WHERE/WHEN: The Picadilly Circus will come to the Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Hall, 4800 N. U.S. 301, Tampa, Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28.
WHY GO: Acts include an elephant extravanganza, motorcycle daredevils, acrobats, contortionists and clowns. Show times are 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Buy-one-get-one-free adult tickets are available at www.thefuncircus.com or call 877-373-0477.
