GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview July 15-17

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Bloomingdale area.

WHERE/WHEN: Crystal Blue, a four-piece band that features four lead vocalists, all with distinctive styles, returns to center stage at the Park Square concert series to rock out the park.

WHY GO: The concert is free but but residents are asked to bring a canned food to donate to Feeding America Tampa Bay. Those bringing a nonperishable item will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.

WHERE/WHEN: Dancin' Motion School of the Arts in Bloomingdale Commons at 127 W. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon, offers Friday Night Dance Socials every Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 3 a.m.

WHY GO: The price is $8 at the door or $5 for college students with an ID. The price includes a 30-minute Latin dance class, drinks and snacks.  

WHERE/WHEN: Repticon Tampa (The Florida International Reptile Show) at the Florida State Fairgrounds is a reptile event featuring vendors offering reptile pets, supplies, feeders, cages and merchandise.

WHY GO: Participate in free raffles, animal seminars and kids' activities. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 12 and children 4 and under are admitted free.

WHERE/WHEN: Derrick Jive will perform at Park Square Cellar, 16132 Churchview Drive, Lithia, Friday, July 15 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

WHY GO: Enjoy live old-school rock and folk music while indulging in some Park Square Cellar appetizers such as Beer Nuts for Wine Snobs of a chilled duck spring roll.

WHERE/WHEN: The Wrenchers will perform at Park Square Cellar, 16132 Churchview Drive, Lithia, Saturday, July 16 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

WHY GO: Enjoy an Orange Blossom Pilsner or a glass of Capasaldo Pinot Grigio while listening to live music from the '50s and '60s.

WHERE/WHEN: Visit Upstairs at 16144 Churchview Drive in Lithia to hear live music from Backwater Blues Friday, July 15 at 8:30 p.m.

WHY GO: Enjoy live blues while taking advantage of drink specials at Upstairs.

WHERE/WHEN: Kenny Flint & the Rough Diamond Band will perform Friday, July 15 starting at 9 p.m. at Racoon's Bar and Grill, 3240 Lithia-Pinecrest Road, Valrico.

WHY GO: A Tampa Bay oldies, country and Southern rock band, Kenny Flint & the Rough Diamond Band is guaranteed to attract a crowd to the dance floor.
