GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview Aug. 19-21

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Bloomingdale area.

WHERE/WHEN: The Friday night Park Square concert series will wrap up with the Mark Anthony Band with Cristina Lynn from 7 to 10 p.m.

WHY GO: The Mark Anthony Band has been providing the best from all genres for more than seven years.

WHERE/WHEN: The Parent-Teacher-Community Organization of St. Stephen Catholic School, 10424 Saint Stephen Circle, Riverview, will host a Movie on the Lawn Aug. 19 at 8 p.m.

WHY GO: All families are welcome to attend the showing of "The 13th Day," a movie about the miracle of Fatima, at the school. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, bug spray and snacks.

WHERE/WHEN: Mark your calendars for the back-to-school Zumba dance party at Dancin' Motion School of the Arts, 127 W. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon.

WHY GO: There will be two hours of dancing and shaking it up for only $10 Aug. 21 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be food, drinks and raffles.

WHERE/WHEN: Florida Life Church, 1310 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, will sponsor its second annual Back-to-School Bash Saturday, Aug. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m.

WHY GO: The church will give away 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to needy families in the area. There will be food, drinks and games as well.

WHERE/WHEN: A free memorial remembrance walk/run (one mile and 5K) to honor Fallen Florida Heroes in Iraq & Afghanistan will take place Aug. 21 at 8 a.m. at E.G. Simmons Park, 2401 19th Ave. N.W., Ruskin.

WHY GO: If you cannot walk/run, just come out to volunteer, cheer others on or wave flags along the route. The Florida Fallen Memorial, owned and operated by Jim Vanderbleek, will be on display. The event is hosted by T.A.M.P.A./Tampa Area Marine Parents Association.
