Ready to Run at FishHawk Turkey Trot

The Third Annual FishHawk Turkey Trot will offer adults and kids a chance to do some good while working up an appetite on Thanksgiving Day.

The roadways around the FishHawk Publix will be transformed into a race course this Thanksgiving as 2,000 runners hit the streets before sitting down for turkey.

Proceeds from the event go to the Seeds of Hope food bank that is run out of the Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Lithia. The organization is part of Feed America Tampa Bay.

There will be a 5K race for adults and 300-yard fun run for kids. Races begin at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is available online and at the Brandon YMCA, Campo Family YMCA and FishHawk Ranch YMCA express.

Registration closes on Nov. 22. The cost of pre-registration is $20 and $25 on the day of the race. For kids looking to participate in the fun run, the cost is $10 pre-registration or $15 on the day of the race.

An Oct. 26 Tampa Tribune article outlined the event and its rapid growth over the three years.
